Handwoven by talented artisans, this unique and eco-friendly basket is made from natural materials and pays homage to the tradition of African weaving. Makenge baskets are a testament to the craftsmanship of the Mbundu and Losi peoples of Zambia. These baskets were originally used to sift grains for cooking. Some models in our collection still bear the traces of their use, with grains sometimes embedded in the weave.

The basket is made from the roots of the Makenge tree, a small tree with long, shallow roots. It is men who dig up these roots, whose fine hairs are then refined for weaving. After harvesting, the roots are boiled, dyed with natural pigments, and then dried. The creation of each basket requires several weeks of meticulous work, making each piece precious and unique.

• Always check whether decorations, dishes and ceramics can be cleaned in the dishwasher using the supplier's technical data sheet.
• For your own safety and that of those around you, always turn off the electricity before installing a light fixture.
• Be careful when installing the object, avoid tripping, slipping or injury.
